      The Trinity

            Fact or Fiction?

The Trinity, what do you think?  Fiction

spawned by the Roman Church or is it a fact vouchsafed by the Word of God?

     The concept of a triune Godhead or what is commonly referred to as the Trinity doctrine, has been one of the buttresses of Christianity and is a part of the brick and mortar of Adventism. But was it taught by the Apostles and those Christians who "kept the faith once delivered unto the saints," (Jude 3) or was it something drummed up by Constantine and his cohorts in 325 A.D. at the famous Council of Nicea?

     For the majority of Seventh-day Adventist Christians, including Present-truth believers, there seems to be no doubt as to the veracity of the Trinity it is a part of the fundamentals of our church and Inspiration clearly supports it. Yet, there is a condescending number of Adventists who either never fully accepted the idea of a tri-personal God, or who did at one time but later discarded it. For them, just because it has been held as truth by our denomination and that Sister White endorsed it, is not strong enough reason to hold it without question. They may remind us that she at one time taught that it was alright to eat pork,' did not accept the Sabbath, and that these same pioneers, including James

White, Ellen White's husband, did not initially believe in the Trinity. As we will see, although these points of concern do not alter the truth of the Trinity, the critics have raised some important questions that need to be addressed. So with the growing haze over the subject and thousands, perhaps million stumbling over the subject, it is the endeavor of this article to "give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear." (1 Peter 3:15), and explain why this theological football belongs across the goal line and not bantered about in center field?

The Word Trinity is Not in the Bible

      Before proceeding to the Scriptures, it is imperative that we discuss a few related items, and one of them concerns the word "Trinity" itself. It is true that it is not used in the Bible. However, that in and of itself is not evidence enough to discredit it. What is important is that the concept is found in Holy Writ.
